Description

"EOS.IO is software that introduces a blockchain architecture designed to enable vertical and horizontal scaling of decentralized applications (the “EOS.IO Software”). This is achieved through an operating system-like construct upon which applications can be built. The software provides accounts, authentication, databases, asynchronous communication and the scheduling of applications across multiple CPU cores and/or clusters. The resulting technology is a blockchain architecture that has the potential to scale to millions of transactions per second, eliminates user fees and allows for quick and easy deployment of decentralized applications."

I’m a software developer 🤓 and I use high-level “frameworks” (building blocks ▪️▫️) to help me build applications in a fraction of the time it would otherwise take if I were to use vanilla languages only. Cheddur (this app) is an example of one of my creations that uses dozens of pre-existing building blocks to help construct the application! 😎 As someone who relies on programming frameworks day-in and day-out, I’ve “bought in” to the idea that EOS could be the first true framework for programmers like me to begin decentralizing their applications. I’m talking about data storage, authentication 🔓, an accounts system 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, etc. - all the things we take for granted as developers in today’s centralized environment. I have high hopes for this project, but at the time of writing, it’s still over 6 months away from v1 launch 🕓. Furthermore, in order to participate in the ICO, you basically have to sign your life away 🧐. The EOS tokens are currently being distributed on the Ethereum blockchain, and block.one (the company behind EOS) reserves the right to not actually launch the EOS platform, ever. Basically, if you’re going to invest this early in the game on EOS, you’re rolling the dice and putting a lot of faith and trust in Dan Larimer and the wider EOS team to actually build what they’ve been touting. So while I think there is a potential for high reward, the high risk is undeniable. Do your due diligence and read every line of their terms and conditions. If you invest, make sure you follow all of the instructions on the www.EOS.io website to register your ETH address in anticipation of the token swap next summer. There are lots of helpful guides on Google and Steemit. Investing at this stage is definitely for advanced crypto users with an appetite for high risk. But this one may be at least worth the double-take.
